Technology by Dummies pt 3: Electric potato.

Image
So, I bought a new antenna. [caption id="attachment_707" align="alignnone" width="2448"] Pretty...[/caption] It promised 50 miles, so I thought "Meh, why not waste $25." [caption id="attachment_708" align="alignnone" width="960"] I'm such an intellectual.[/caption] Simple enough, so I set it up in my room. And ran the channels. Now, realizing my room was worthless, I tried the only room I thought would work. [caption id="attachment_713" align="alignnone" width="2448"] Do not do this! Electricity bad![/caption] I never did get the Canadian stations. Not a one. But I did get some clear stations, and isn't that what matter? [caption id="attachment_715" align="alignnone" width="3264"] Food? On my TV?[/caption] I'll probably bring this plug-in mess to school one of these days...maybe...idk. -Red Hooded Manatee

Schaffest!!!

Image
So, last year we (meaning I) made a holiday to celebrate us putting Christmas music in the automatic playlist at WNIA (Long story short, our old GM put an embargo on Christmas music and we broke it. Viva la revolucion!) Well, I was late this year. So we did it today! [caption id="attachment_697" align="alignnone" width="3264"] The glowing power sheep![/caption] Last year we had sparkling apple cider, so this year we tried sparkling pumpkin cider! [caption id="attachment_698" align="alignnone" width="3264"] What could possibly go wrong?[/caption] Ron and I decided to party over various random music! [caption id="attachment_699" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Well, here goes nothing![/caption] [caption id="attachment_700" align="alignnone" width="1280"] I don't know whose reaction is better.[/caption] It was terrible! It got slightly better as time went on... [...

The new radio show that will (in theory) be happening.

Hey everybody. So, I've put together three (so far) 30-minute music shows. I plan on dropping them into WNIA Radio  to play during the Christmas break. They're quirky little things hosted by a text-to-speech robot DJ, so it should be pretty fun to listen to. I plan for it to air 11pm on Fridays. Sounds like a good time? Good! We're all in agreement then. I'll probably also have the episodes up here on the blog. Expect more to come! -Red Hooded Manatee

Lasertron Lock-in: Sleep Deprivation is Magic!

Image
So, I went to a Lasetron lock-in...okay this is my third lock-in I've participated in, but this one was crazy. Let me just state that I woke up around 9:30am on Saturday, and ended up crashing after the overnight lock-in around 9:00am on Sunday! When I woke up at 4 in the afternoon, I realized it would take a while to remember what exactly happened. I know that Ron was there, as well as my friend from high school Reilley. [caption id="attachment_499" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Just as blurry as my memories of that night.[/caption] Anywho, I ended up playing 13 rounds of laser tag. 2 sessions burn 500-900 calories, so I burned way too much. And guess who didn't have any pizza that night? THIS GUY! I survive the entire night on WATER (take that, gamers)! Ron pretty much kept up with me the entire time, using freeze ray and making me want to pummel him into oblivion (which according to my scorecard, I did quite well). I also somehow won enough t...

Britannic at 100: The Medicated Titanic

Image
Let me just state that I love the Titanic. Let me then state that the previous statement is one of the grossest understatements I have ever made in my life. The various artifacts and memorabilia strewn about my room, as well as the fact that I built the bow for a class project in High School, clearly point to obsession. Of course, I'm not here to talk about the Titanic. I'm here to talk about her sister ship, the Britannic . The Britannic (claimed to be originally named 'Gigantic', but changed after the Titanic sinking) was the third and final of the Olympic-class liners built by White Star Line. Side note: The Olympic holds the great honor of hitting everything on this planet without ever actually sinking. Don't believe me? Look it up . The Britannic was to be the grandest ship of the line: more obnoxious than even the Titanic. Something about a Wurlitzer organ... Of course World War I put the kibosh on that, and the ship was made into a medical ship. The HMHS Brit...

The Desolation of Sears: Summit Mall

Image
Sorry, folks: I just can't stat away! So I paid a visit to the Sears at (the shattered remains of) the Summit. Interestingly they close at 8pm every day except Sunday, when they close at 10! Since I got there at 7:30pm, I didn't have a lot of time to look around. I did manage to snap some pics, though. I also got a few more songs for my Dead Mall playlist (one of these days I'll upload it on here). ...oh, and I did a Google Cardboard panorama, so I can enjoy Sears anytime I want! Anywho, it was a fun romp through memory lane. I'll definitely be back. -Red Hooded Manatee

Technology by Dummies pt.2: Canadian channels

Image
So last time  I discussed how I got digital TV using an antenna. I decided to bring it on campus to see if I could get any Canadian signals (CN tower Toronto FTW!) Well, after much frustration at the top of the tallest building, I found that the 3rd floor of one of the buildings actually provides the best signal line! So I got the CBC, with some horses or something. I got Global Toronto, showing some soap opera or something. My personal fave is TVO kids playing Thomas the Tank Engine! It took a bit to angle the antenna right, butin the end this TV turned out to be really useful entertainment (pun intended!) Since Time Warner won't give me my Canadian channels, I'm enjoying the free options! Tune in next time when I try to outrun Thomas the train! (Ow) -Red Hooded Manatee

Technology by Dummies: Digital Antennae!

Image
Author's note: I'm not a tech wiz. Don't expect any real info in this, I'm just writing for entertainment. I told you I'd talk about something other than a dead mall! Do you guys remember when you could just watch TV on an antenna? Free TV? Well, shockingly, you still can! Of course, things are a bit different now, being that we're in the digital realm. So, how do you get a digital signal? Simply enough, you use a digital antenna. You can buy them at your local Radioshack (if you still have a Radioshack, otherwise Walmart carries them, too!) So now, you hook up your digital antenna to TV with a digital tuner. If your tv doesn't have one (pre-2007) then you'll have to buy a tuner. Now, I hooked up my antenna to a portable digital TV. I switched the smaller antenna it came with for the big one seen on my dresser...which somehow got less channels, but crashed less (the downside of digital is you either get the channel or don't: static is no longer an op...

Name Change!

Well, that didn't last long... So in case you missed it, yesterday I accidentally nuked my alternate account while trying to switch domain names. My solution: try again with a different name! So now, welcome to RED HOODED MANATEE! Named after that one story I told way back when . It's also attached to my twitter , and has its own Facebook page ! Expect more updates on this blog. -Red Hooded Manatee

Well I Dun Goof'd

Okay, needless to say, I misread some instructions...and I ended up deleting "Nico's Web Corner". Allegedly holding sites aren't a thing on Wordpress. I also can get it back. Which ruins the plan to change  this  site's name to "Nico's Web Corner". I guess Celi wasn't gonna leave! So I plan to be a pinch more active on this site, since I've abandoned that  other blogging site for numerous reasons. So, to start off this new era of slightly-improved activity, I updated the logo again! It's almost the same as the last one, woohoo! And I promise that I'll blog about something other than the Summit Park Mall...like maybe the Boulevard Mall that's totally gonna go out of business . Stay tuned! -Red Hooded Manatee

The Origin of this site's Mascot

So...ever wonder who that girl on the front page is supposed to be? Survey says: nobody! Okay, joke aside, the character's named Korei Celeste. It's "Celi's Web Corner" because she's an old calling card character of mine. So what's the story? Well, five years ago, I created this fox character named Korei. "But wait" you say, interrupting me, "that's not a fox!" Yeah, I know. Four years ago I stopped drawing foxes for my own sake (always fun being called a furry) and Korei became a human! I still switch between drawing her as a fox and as a human. So why is the site "Celi's Web Corner"? Why not "Korei's Web Corner"? Well, people would totally misspell Korei, so Celi was easier. Why didn't I just use my own name? Because I'm weird , silly interweb people. -Red Hooded Manatee

Man, this blog is as abandoned as the Summit Park Mall, eh?

Hello my legion of 0 reader! I felt like I should post at least one thing in November, so here it is. ... I got nothing. But here's a picture of some new store in the Outlet Mall. Kinda reminds me of that one store in The Summit, so I snapped a pic. Keep your fingers crossed! -Red Hooded Manatee
